OverviewThe Goldsboro MPO (which includes the City of Goldsboro, Village of Walnut Creek, Town of Pikeville, and Wayne County) has developed a Draft of a Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Greenway Master Plan. The planning process began with a Kick-Off Meeting on February 27, 2014 and will continue through to the end of 2014. The Kick-Off meeting was the first of four project Steering Committee meetings. The Steering Committee is made up of a combination of local residents, municipal and county government staff, NCDOT, Seymour Johnson AFB representatives, Friends of the Wayne County Greenways representative, and others.
Through this plan, we hope to increase pedestrian and bicyclist safety, foster better access to community destinations, and create opportunities for active and healthy lifestyles. Project Timeline

Project BackgroundIn 2013, the City of Goldsboro and the Goldsboro MPO initiated a process to develop the region's first greenway plan. The Plan will become a "playbook" of project priorities for the region moving forward with the development of a connected greenway network that will include both off-road multi-use paths along with on-road bicycle and pedestrian facilities such as bicycle lanes, sidewalks, and crosswalks.
